My name is Zsolt Arkossy. I live in Budapest, Hungary - the most beautiful, exciting and controversial capital of Eastern Europe. Travelled around the world, lived in several countries, but this city still gives me the most.
Despite living in a noisy and energetic city my pictures usually reveal the opposite: silence. This gives me the challange to separate from the surroundings the essence of the visual message. Taking silent pictures is not an easy task - it is the absolute opposite of the edgy photo journalism. Takes time, passion and visual interest in the world we are living.
Made on Mac. I have built this site on Pixelpost photoblog engine and used John Grayson's Suffocate template, modifying the CSS and html code to suit my needs.
I get lot of questions what gear do I use for taking pictures. The answer is simple: my eye. No matter how expensive camera you own if you don't have the visual attraction to the subject you are just wasting your money. Don't waste time browsing the net for months reading the reviews. Get out, buy an inexpensive point and shoot and take pictures - thousands. You will learn by trial and error and you will enjoy it. Ultimately you are not taking pictures for the sake of equipment but to interpret your visual perspective on the world isnt't it?
For those who are still reluctant to know what gear I do use, here we go: a cheap F30 Fujifilm camera and sometimes I borrow an old Canon350D with the kit lens. For post production I use Adobe Lightroom on an iMac 24". You will also find on this site photos taken with regular film cameras (Leica Minilux point and shoot and Canon EOS3) and scanned with a Minolta ScanDual III. My preferred film was always the terrific Fuji Velvia 50.
